The Cork Board: A review of the Pine Ridge winetasting experience

  • Tim · 2 years ago
Nice write-up but it had me wondering if the tasting fee was $10 or they had poured you another couple wines, you would have given them 4 corks. Seems they did everything right and the wines you did taste were solid so I was wondering if that extra cork was value related?

Tim--the $$ wasn't the only thing that prevented us from going with four corks for the overall rating. For whatever reason, we just didn't feel the 'wow' factor while we were on-site. It's a nice winery, nice tasting room, etc.--but at the end of the day, nothing really blew our socks off.

Although Pine Ridge may be more "famous," I like their neighbor a little bit more across the board. Silverado Vineyards has a magnificent tasting room on a hilltop aerie (almost as steep a climb via bicycle as Rombauer!), helpful hosts who open up with interest shown, and I find their cabs more classic-less oaky and more balanced.

I think three stars is a fair review, as Pine Ridge is indeed nice.
